Description
The route most people picture when they think of Egypt, done at a pace that leaves room to look. Three nights in Cairo for the plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum, an internal flight south, then four nights aboard a Nile cruiser between Luxor and Aswan with a dawn run to Abu Simbel.
All internal flights, transfers and entry tickets are handled in advance. A single Egyptologist accompanies the group throughout, so nothing is re-explained and nothing is rushed.

Itinerary
Arrival in Cairo
Met inside the terminal, assisted through arrivals, and transferred to your hotel in Giza with pyramid views. The rest of the day is free to recover from the flight.
Giza plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum
An early start for the three pyramids, the Sphinx approached through Khafre’s valley temple, then the afternoon in the new museum: the grand staircase, the Ramesses colossus, and the Tutankhamun galleries.
Islamic and Coptic Cairo
The Citadel, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, then down into Coptic Cairo for the Hanging Church. Afternoon in Khan el-Khalili with time to wander off the main lane.
Fly to Luxor, embark
Morning flight south. Board your cruiser at Luxor, lunch on deck, then Karnak and Luxor Temple in the softer late light. Overnight moored in Luxor.
Theban necropolis, sail to Edfu
The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s terraced temple and the Colossi of Memnon in the morning, then cast off and sail south past the cultivation.
Edfu and Kom Ombo
Horus at Edfu, the most complete temple in Egypt, reached by caleche from the mooring. Kom Ombo in the afternoon, right on the riverbank.
Abu Simbel and Aswan
A pre-dawn departure to reach Abu Simbel as the sun hits the facade. Back to Aswan for Philae by motorboat and a felucca at the cataract.
Aswan to Cairo, departure
Morning flight to Cairo and connection to your international departure, or transfer to a hotel if you are extending.
